I was invited by NYCU 國立陽明交通大學, to deliver a talk on the latest technology developments in location systems. This semester there were more international student groups than the local students. I like this mix of international students coming from different backgrounds and cultures. They bring in diverse approach and thinking mindset among the local students and overall teaching methodology.
Some of the intriguing questions from students were regarding location privacy and tracking methodologies like RTDOA. We also discussed regarding the radar mode of UWB tracking systems and students seemed to be particularly interested in the vital sign monitoring applications of UWB. How this applications are using the child CPD detection within automotive industry applications.
One of the the interesting questions was regarding if our laptops could use UWB sensor to lock/unlock our devices using just heart rate signatures? Until now I have not come across any literature or research work in this direction. Maybe in future UWB could be used a security technology and replace current face-ID technology from iPhones (Apple)
